The Convair F-102 “Delta Dagger” was an interceptor aircraft designed and produced by the American aircraft manufacturer Convair. The F-102 was the first operational supersonic interceptor and delta-wing fighter operated by the United States Air Force. The Convair F-102s were given weapons evaluation testing at Kirtland Air Force Base in the late 1950’s. An F-102A won the Bendix race in 1957. The pilot, Air Force Captain Chandler, was stationed at Kirtland before flying in the race.
